Meghan McClain – Explorer Post 264 Leader
AFD Firefighter/EMT at Station 1. While attending UAA I began taking classes towards the Fire and Emergency Services Degree. During that time I also started volunteering with Girdwood Fire Department (2010-2015). While with GFD I received my Firefighter 1, EMT 2, and Rope Rescue certifications. I was never an Explorer but I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge and passion for the fire service with the next generation. I have assisted with Post 264 in varying capacities since I have been a part of AFD. I have volunteered at numerous Fire Camps around the country ranging from 2 days to a week long, geared towards empowering young female firefighters.
Jeff Bugh – Lead Advisor
AFD Firefighter/Paramedic working out of Station 1B. I was an Explorer from 2011-2013 when the Post was led by Todd Bowey, Dave Bellville and Joshua Walker to name a few. They provided me the opportunity to obtain my Firefighter I, EMT I, and HazMat technician, as well as taking me to a fire conference in Illinois in the short span of two years! I then began working at the University Fire Department where I further developed to become a paramedic and receive higher education. I work with now-captains Dave Bellville and Joshua Walker at Station 1, the same who guided me in the past. I find it an honor to be able to give back, and hopefully provide someone else with the same opportunities afforded to me; so that they can become who they were meant to be.
